Al Pacino has signed on to play legendary Penn State football coach Joe Paterno in a new film that’ll be directed by Brian De Palma. The pair worked together on 1993′s Carlito’s Way and more famously on 1983′s Scarface.
The flick will be based on Paterno, the best-selling by sportswriter Joe Posnanski. It was optioned by producer Edward R. Pressman, who plans to title the big-screen featureHappy Valley.
Paterno died last year after being disgraced by his involvement in covering up the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal.
